What do I check if my high speed Internet doesn't work?
If you lose connectivity, check to make sure the power light on the modem is solid green...checking ALL modem and phone line connections If the power light is green,disconnect the power from modem at the power source (for example, the wall outlet or surge suppressor). Wildblue subscribers, please DO NOT disconnect the power at the back of the modem. Westel and Speed Stream can disconnect the power from the back of the modem.
Leave the power off for five minutes. After five minutes, reconnect the power at the power source.
DSL, Wireless - Depending on your modem type,when your ready light or DSL light or Online light is solid green, you should be able to start surfing. This may take a few minutes. WILDBLUE -You are ready to begin browsing again when the lights for power (the top light), receive (second from top) and network (fourth from top) are solid. This may take a minute or two. ROUTERS...if you have a router in place, this must also be reset. If you cannot connect, please follow these steps again.

How to Release/Renew Your IP Address?
f you are experiencing difficulty with your High Speed Internet connection and power cycling does not correct the problem, try releasing / renewing your IP address. For instructions on how to go about doing this, find your particular operating system below.
Windows XP
- From your desktop, click Start > Command Prompt. This will launch a command prompt window.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /release". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /renew". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "exit".
Windows Vista
- From your desktop, click the Windows Start button to launch the Start menu. Select All Programs > Accessories. On the Accessories menu, using your right mouse button, click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator using your left mouse button.
- If you receive a User account control pop-up window, select Continue. The Command Prompt window should now launch.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /release", and then press the Enter key on your keyboard. Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /renew", and then press the Enter key on your keyboard. Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "exit".
Windows 98 and Windows ME
- From your desktop, click Start > Run and type the word "command" in the Open field. This will launch a command prompt window.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /release". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /renew". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "exit".
Windows NT and Windows 2000
- From your desktop, click Start > Run and type "cmd" in the Open field. This will launch a command prompt window.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /release". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "ipconfig /renew". Wait for the command prompt to return.
- At the prompt, type in "exit".
